Flying Food Group recently won praise for their catered meals from the toughest audience on Earth: the internet.

50,000 members of the Facebook group, Art Home of Aviation Catering, use the platform to discuss their airline meals. Not surprisingly, most of the reviewers are left wanting from their in-flight meals. Recently, however, a series of meals catered by Flying Food Group have become a much talked about and surprisingly positive topic of conversation for the group’s members. Group members, many of whom are posting photos and descriptions of the gourmet meals served aboard STARLUX and Japan Air flights, can’t seem to get enough of the Chicago based company’s onboard meals.

On March 2, one passenger traveling from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) took to the Facebook group to express his satisfaction with the various food and beverages he was served on a STARLUX Airlines flight.  The passenger, Jerry Wu, highlighted his in-flight experience by posting photos and extensive captions of all of his meals.

While aboard the 14.5- hour flight, his courses included a glass of champagne, assorted breads served with fresh butter, spinach cream soup, a “soft, not chewy” grilled sous vide octopus with tricolor potato salad, a “very tender” grilled prime tenderloin beef steak with grilled vegetables and mascarpone potato purée, fresh fruit, gourmet desserts, and more. He captured his satisfaction with photos of everything he ate, describing his meals as ”delicious indeed” and “very tasty.”

Previously when Mr. Wu traveled from TPE to LAX in January, he posted another review about his flight experience, boasting, “In-flight service is on par with other top legacy carriers, or probably better than most of them.” He also posted numerous photos of his gourmet meals and claimed, “STARLUX food was very good.”

Flying Food Group is a prominent airline catering company based in Chicago, Illinois which was established in 1983 by Sue Ling Gin, a first-generation Chinese American. The company provides food catering services to major airlines such as Air France, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Swiss Air and TAP Air Portugal.
