Afena Federal Credit Union in Upland Indiana is looking for an experienced Branch Manager to direct the operations of a small Credit Union branch (usually fewer than 5 FTEs). Throughout our history, Afena has been dedicated to serving our community; and today we remain committed to helping our members achieve their financial dreams. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a heavy relationship-building and connecting role. About 20% of the Branch Manager’s time will be devoted to building relationships with local businesses and community leaders in Upland and neighboring towns. The manager will ensure the branch meets organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans. Additionally, this individual will coach and lead the employees and promote the credit union’s culture during all interactions with internal and external members. This is a full-time position and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

AS A BRANCH MANAGER, YOU WILL:

•    Perform Business Development activities in Upland and the surrounding communities. Attend local networking events like Chamber of Commerce, community events, and business grand openings. Visit local businesses, schools, and non-profits to raise awareness about the credit union’s product and services.  Perform financial education seminars and trainings.  Represent the Credit Union in Upland and the surrounding communities.

•    Demonstrate enthusiastic support of Afena’s corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives.

•    Review member’s applications for consumer loans such as personal loans, vehicle loans, HELOC loans, and credit cards.

•    Analyze the member’s financial condition to include credit history, credit score, collateral, and other financial information to assess the degree of risk and the member’s ability to repay the loan. 

•    Meet with members to explain the terms and conditions to close loans.

•    Assist members with opening and closing accounts, answering questions about products and services and resolving problems.

•    Hire, review, schedule, train, and monitor the work of branch personnel and conduct performance reviews.

•    Coordinate and collaborate with other Branch Managers to ensure consistent practices are adhered to throughout the organization.

•    Attend and participate in meetings and committees as required.

•    Represent the branch as appropriate in its relationships with members, community partners, community events, suppliers, other financial institutions, and similar groups.

QUALIFIED BRANCH MANAGERS WILL HAVE:

•    Two or more years of banking or management experience at a financial institution or related business is required.

•    College degree, completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or five years of similar banking/credit union experience including leadership responsibilities.

•    Ability to motivate or influence others and a willingness to foster sound relationships with other entities.

•    Working knowledge of regulations relating to all Credit Union deposit products helpful 

•    Proficiency with computers and relevant technology.

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; creativity, initiative, and organizational skills to manage project work and coordinate individuals and responsibilities.

 

This position will require about 20% of travel for participation in community events to help promote Afena and provide financial education to the community.
