6.5 percent of Rice University students played sports on university teams in 2017-2018


In 2017-2018, 6.5 percent of Rice University students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Rice University has 3,992 undergraduate students, of which 52 percent are men and 48 percent are women, and a total student body of 7,124 students. Of these students, 266 men and 198 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 8.7 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Rice University with the most participants are all track combined (187), football (104) and baseball (40).
