Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 9.

At the March 8, 2018 North Texas Job Corps – Community Relations Council Quarterly Luncheon y{our} Executive Director, Kevin Hall, was announced as the Community Relations Council’s Vice President along side Ada Simmons, who will serve as President.

Kevin states, “The Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is two-fold. First we are to preserve the competitive enterprise system of business by creating a better appreciation of business-people, educating the business community and representing then both locally and statewide in regards to legislature and political affairs. A recent example of this is when I along with Ada Simmons and a few others spoke with Congressman Sam Johnson’s office about the importance of continuing the government’s financial support and contract with Job Corps nationwide.

Our second purpose is to promote business and community development by promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses within the trade area. Here is where our partnership with North Texas Job Corps has a key role. The students here are learning skills that are needed in today’s workforce. These skills include Homeland Security, Office Administration, Culinary Arts, Bricklaying, Plumbing, Patient Care Technician, along with 10 additional offerings.

My first experience with Job Corps actually happened about a year ago at a Small Business event held by the US Chamber of Commerce in Irving. This is where I met Laura Bruton after overhearing her say she worked in McKinney. Since our meeting, I have toured this campus and students from the Homeland Security training have helped at our annual events. Again, thank you to North Texas Job Corps for the opportunity to be on the Community Relations Council.”
