The Arizona Legislature recently passed the Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act, which received unanimous support in the House and Senate.

On Jan. 22, Gov. Doug Ducey called a special session to pass comprehensive legislation that provides funding for the treatment of opioid use, improves monitoring and enforcement tools, and distributes resources to address needs through law enforcement, first responders, and community partners on the ground.

“This is a tremendous example of what we can achieve when we work together," Ducey said. "The Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act provides thoughtful, aggressive policy solutions to address this growing crisis and help save lives across our state. I thank legislative leaders and all legislators — Democrats and Republicans — for working together during this special session to give this issue the urgency it deserves and for passing this critical legislation. I look forward to signing it.”
