CITY OF AUSTIN: Recognized as Leading Workplace for Commuters

City of Austin issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.

The City of Austin has just been named as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in 2018 for offering exceptional sustainable commuting options that meet national standards of excellence.

The City of Austin was one of only 14 city governments to receive this designation.

Best Workplaces for Commuters applauded the City for listening to our employees’ challenges with traffic congestion and their concerns over reducing emissions. They also noted the numerous commuter options that we offer our employees to help them get to and from work every day, such as free Capital Metro transit passes and free memberships for the bike-sharing service, B-cycle.

Best Workplaces for Commuters states that by being included on this list, we understand the importance and impact commuter options have on our employees and the value they bring to the environment.

In 2017, the City of Austin as an employer set a new goal to reduce commute trips by 30 percent by 2022. I take great pride in our organization receiving a designation as prestigious as this because it shows that we are on the right track to reaching our goal.
