The Northeast Hospital Foundation will mark the 10th anniversary of its In the Pink of Health Luncheon at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport Marriott.
The luncheon will be held Oct. 20 at 11:30 a.m. to present last year’s luncheon proceeds to Toni Schau and Fran Linton. The foundation’s annual luncheon also helps to raise funds for Project Mammogram which offers free mammograms and as-needed follow-up treatment to residents of the Lake Houston area.
"I want to thank Toni Schau and Fran Linton for their amazing work with Project Mammogram," Foundation President Tim Baker said during the planning committee event. "Thanks to Toni and Fran, and their countless volunteers, we're able to bring 'peace of mind' to hundreds of women – and men – in our community who benefit from our free mammograms."
The program has served nearly 8,000 residents since its inception in 2001.
"Breast cancer screening is essential considering that one in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime," Schau said in a statement. "But not everyone can financially afford to be screened. Project Mammogram is here for them."
