The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) has named the Killeen Independent School District (KISD) Board of Trustees the Region 12 School Board of the Year.
The KISD Board was recently named as a regional honoree and will now compete for the 2017 Texas Honor School Boards and Texas’ Outstanding School Board at the TASA/TASB Convention this October.
“We commend the KISD school board for their outstanding leadership and dedication to improving the quality of education in their district,” Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 Executive Director Dr. Jerry Maze said in a press release. “We are proud to recognize them for their strong commitment to their schools, students and community.”
The Killeen ISD Board of Trustees is responsible for the education of almost 44,000 students throughout over 50 campuses in Central Texas. The district includes 32 elementary schools, 10 middle schools, two alternative schools, and a career and technology center.
“The Killeen Independent School District Board of Trustees consistently demonstrates their selfless service, dedication and work ethic while ensuring decisions are made with the best interests of students, staff and the community at the forefront,” KISD Superintendent Dr. John Craft said in the release.
