The City of Austin Economic Development Department has appointed Erica Shamaly to manage its Music & Entertainment Division to help grow the city’s music and entertainment industry infrastructure.
Shamaly, who previously served as the ACL Live and 3TEN ACL music venues director of marketing, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds bachelor's degrees in art history and studio art.
“We are very pleased to have Erica join the Economic Development Department team,” the City of Austin’s Economic Development Department Director Kevin Johns said in a statement. “Her broad professional experience and direct knowledge of the music and creative industries will prove invaluable as we continue to refine and expand programming and services.”
Shamaly’s experience also includes serving as the co-founder and co-executive director of the Austin School of Film at Motion Media Arts Center. She was also the Reverberation Appreciation Society/Austin Psych Fest director of marketing and business development.
In her new role, Shamaly will run the daily operations of the Music & Entertainment Division, which serves as an economic driver and central resource for the city’s music industry.
