Conroe’s three craft breweries were awarded with the Conroe Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Partner in Tourism Award for their support of the bureau’s efforts to promote Conroe as a tourist destination.
The Conroe CVB honored Southern Star, B-52 and Copperhead breweries at their recent luncheon held during National Travel and Tourism Week in May. The luncheon also featured keynote speaker and well-known travel and tourism researcher Dr. James Petrick from Texas A&M.
“Without a doubt these breweries are a huge draw for visitors to come experience Conroe but what struck us the most was the culture of cooperation that exists between them,” Conroe CVB events and marketing coordinator Sherry Chaney Morgan said in a statement.
“They ‘get’ that when one of them succeeds they all succeed in a sense because those coming to Conroe to experience our craft beer will prolong their experience with us by taking in all three breweries during their stay,” Morgan said in the award announcement. “And as great as each of their beers are, their individual backstories are equally as impressive.”
The Partner in Tourism Award is given each year to those who help promote the Conroe area and contribute to the CVB’s efforts to attract tourists.
