Texas ranks number one in revenue from college athletics

Texas brings in the most revenue from college athletics in the country, according to data obtained from the U.S. Department of Education.

According to data gathered by the Higher Education Tribune on revenue generated from college athletics from both public and private schools at all levels, with 67 schools, Texas sees approximately $1.15 billion in revenue. The University of Texas brings in the most revenue in the state, with $182.1 million. If broken down per capita, Iowa sees $43 per person in revenue.

Washington, D.C., ranks highest per capita with $155 of revenue per person in the population.
