Community events give new residents insight on Killeen-area businesses

Two events in August will help give Killeen-area residents a greater awareness about local businesses.

The annual New Teacher's Showcase, sponsored by First National Bank Texas, will facilitate the welcome of new Killeen Independent School District teachers.

The event is ideal for local businesses, which are encouraged to take place in order to gain the recognition of the new teachers. Goody bags will be filled by the various businesses in attendance. Chamber members may put in one item for the goody bags for free and the second item costs $25 to include. Future investors have no free contributions but can pay $25 to put in one item.

The deadline for item submission is 5 p.m.  Aug. 1. Those interested in volunteering to stuff goody bags should reach out to courtney@killeenchamber.com.

Secondly, the Hood Howdy event assists businesses in being seen by Ft. Hood soldiers and families. The event is held bi-annually and the same fees are required of chamber members and future investors as for the New Teacher's Showcase. The due date for items is 5 p.m. Aug. 8.

Volunteers should again reach out to courtney@killeenchamber.com.
