In an effort to address recent drops in foreign tourism to the region, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce is stepping up its “Amigos Always” campaign with extensive marketing and encouraging Chamber members to take an active role in the promotion.
The Amigos Always campaign is one of the many marketing efforts between the McAllen Chamber and its partners in Mexico designed to encourage foreign tourism in the region, which has experienced a recent drop, according to a recent statement from the Chamber.
“While there are a number of socio-political reasons and economic conditions that have contributed to the current slowdown of foreign visitors to the McAllen metro area, the message that McAllen has promoted for years continues to be the same – our histories, families, communities and economies have been intertwined for generations and we still honor those connections,” the Chamber said in the statement.
The Chamber plans to use several marketing items to promote the Amigos Always theme including pin buttons for service employees, bumper stickers, t-shirts, billboards and social media.
The Amigos Always campaign and brand was developed through research and surveys conducted through several Mexico universities. According to the Chamber, the phrasing and tagline scored the highest approval rating from survey participants in relating to warmth and friendless in both English and Spanish terms.
