Lone Star Family Health Center’s (LSFHC) Board of Directors is applauding Rep. Kevin Brady for his recent health defender award and for his work as a staunch advocate for health care.
Lone Star’s Board signed a congratulatory letter to Brady for receiving the Distinguished Community Health Defender Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers. In its letter, the board also commended the congressman for his support of health center funding and legislation.
“Rep. Brady’s support of LSFHC and the community health center model has been incredible,” Lone Star CEO Karen Harwell said. “He has been vital to our success and ability to serve this community. Rep. Brady recognizes the impact that LSFHC makes in Montgomery County. We are appreciative of his advocacy in Washington for the continued funding of our health center and community health centers nationwide.”
Over the past several years, Brady has addressed the growing need for community health centers and the challenge of providing long-term funding for those centers.
According to the National Association of Community Health Centers, without additional funding, an estimated 2,800 centers representing 51,000 jobs and 9 million patients nationwide, could close this year.
