Ninety employees with Morningside Ministries Senior Living Communities have been certified as Certified Dementia Practitioners (CDP) as part of the nonprofit’s efforts to help serve patients in the San Antonio area.
Morningside staff, which includes certified nursing assistants, licensed vocational nurses and activity coordinators, spent a month undergoing training coordinated by the organization’s vice president of corporate training, Maria Wellisch, who is a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer.
“Moringside Ministries is committed to maintaining and promoting quality of care,” Wellisch said. "This employee certification is just one more way we do this to support our residents and their families."
Morningside is a faith-based organization that provides senior care in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and memory care. Founded in 1961, the organization serves the communities of San Antonio and Boerne.
CDP certification, provided by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, is designed to give dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease education for practitioners and caregivers who work with those suffering from dementia.
