The Lubbock Chamber’s annual Community Prayer Luncheon will have two special guests this year, as they host two stars from the upcoming movie “I’ll Push You” as speakers at the event.
Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck, authors of the book “I’ll Push You” and who also star in the movie which is slated for release this fall, will speak about their 500-mile pilgrimage known as “Camino de Santiago.” A famous pilgrimage since the middle ages, Camino de Santiago is a journey to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain in honor of Apostle St. James.
Gray and Skeesuck who are best friends, began their 34-day journey in 2014 when Skeesuck, who has a progressive neuromuscular disease and is wheelchair bound, asked Gray to accompany him on the trip. His friend Gray responded saying “I’ll Push You” and the pair started off on their trek. They have written a book which is now an upcoming movie about their friendship and pilgrimage.
The luncheon will be May 4 at 11 a.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Tickets are $50 for the general public and $35 for Chamber members. Reservation deadline is May 1 at 5 p.m. and tickets may be purchased at lubbockchamber.com or by calling 806-761-7000.
