Alberico Fine Wine, McAllen Country Club, Mail-Pak Your Box Store, Texas Border Business/MegaDoctor News and The Dry Room were recently named McAllen Chamber’s top five small businesses for 2016.
“There are so many small, successful businesses that have been around for such a long time,” Alberico Fine Wine owner Rick Ramos said. “This is a humbling experience.”
Ramos, who opened Alberico’s five years ago, has been actively involved in community work and donations including for the Salvation Army.
“It really has been a morale booster for my staff,” Mail-Pak owner Ray Norton, who is best known for his talent as emcee of the 4th of July Parade and Candlelight Posada for the last 25 years.
McAllen Country Club General Manager Jeff Lowder said his employees are grateful for the honor of being among the Chamber’s top small businesses.
“It means a lot to our employees and members for being recognized as a business that has been around for such a long time,” Lowder said.
Texas Border Business, which publishes Megametropolis, a newspaper that focuses on general business, economic development and education was also honored by the Chamber’s recognition.
“Being recognized by your peers is something that doesn’t happen often,” said Megametropolis’ owner/publisher Roberto Gonzalez. “I am so happy that the McAllen Chamber has this program because it gives us the confidence to continue doing things for this community.”
