Leadership Plano will kick off its first event of its new speaker series with former Hilti North American President and CEO Cary Evert, who will discuss “investing in people.”
Evert is well known for his personal approach and morale-boosting management style while serving at Hilti. During his tenure, the company was recognized twice by Fortune Magazine, making the magazine’s “100 Best Companies To Work For” list and being named “Best 100 Workplaces For Millennials In The United States” by the magazine in 2016.
“Many business managers understand the importance of investing in people, but Hilti has truly emerged as a leader in this area,” Jyo Pai, Leadership Plano’s organizing committee chair for the speaker series, said. “We’re pleased to have Cary Evert as our first speaker for what we hope will become an ongoing platform to highlight Plano’s many outstanding leaders and to allow them to share their knowledge and insights."
Evert, who recently retired from Hilti, oversaw the company’s U.S., Canada, Caribbean and Guam businesses that involved manufacturing specialized construction tools. He led the company’s North American headquarters' move to Plano in 2015 and is known for his employee “Culture Journey Team Camps,” which he initiated at Hilti, a company which boasts a 90 percent retention rate.
Evert's speech will take place March 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Courtyard Theatre, 1509 Avenue H in Plano.
