A number of business and higher education organizations have partnered to offer a free, interactive online tool to help students in Texas make informed decisions regarding higher education and possible career options.

Called LaunchMyCareerTX.org, the tool provides information on employment opportunities in the state; the degree or certifications needed to apply for in-demand careers; the likely return on investment one can expect if they earn a degree from a specific college or in a specific major; and the earning potential of different careers and what lifestyles can be achieved. The tool also sheds light on the personal and professional satisfaction expected from different majors and careers.

"It is uniquely positioned to help Texas’ students determine what path is right for them based on their personal goals and career aspirations," Texas Association of Business CEO and President Bill Hammond said. "When students succeed, it means a better-prepared and more-qualified workforce for Texas in the future."

Texas is the third state to offer the LaunchMyCareer, joining Colorado and Tennessee.

"The educational decisions our students make create a ripple effect, influencing far more than simply the student’s future," Hammond said. "Their decisions shape the ability of our state to thrive and compete economically for good jobs."
